Elma Cesare Donato, 93, a resident of Green Ridge Health Care Center, died Thursday morning at the facility surrounded by her family. She was the widow of Sam Donato, who died on Jan. 1, 1995.

Born Feb. 27, 1919 in Old Forge, daughter of the late Giulio and Clara Ghigiarelli Cesare, Elma was a graduate of Old Forge High School and Lackawanna Business College. She was employed by Winchester Optical for many years as the local office manager. Elma was very active in the Dunmore community serving as a past president of the Jefferson School PTA, Dunmore Little League Baseball and Dunmore Biddy Basketball. She was a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish, Dunmore.
Her greatest joy was the love and care of her family.
Elma is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann Persichetti and husband, Joseph, New Hope, Pa.; two sons, Nicholas Donato and wife, Judith, Clarks Summit, Pa.; and Joseph Donato and wife Mary Belle (Nell), Winter Park, Fla.; granddaughters, Erin Donato, Anna Huckaby, Erica Donato and Lauren Donato; grandsons, Joseph Persichetti Jr., Matthew Donato and Sam Donato; four great-grandchildren, Kyle, Bella, Angelina and Jeweliana; nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two children, Mary Ann and Nicholas; six brothers, Primo, Sette, Fiore, Giulio, Leo and Carlo; and five sisters, Agnes D'Amico, Enis Renda, Emma Jean Clause, Helen Cherundolo and Libra Kruegel.
Elma's family would like to extend its sincerest appreciation to the staffs at Scranton Manor Assisted Living Center, the Green Ridge Health Care Center and Hospice Community Care.
The funeral will be Monday from the Albert P. O'Donnell Funeral Home, 2025 Green Ridge St., Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 208 Smith St., Dunmore. Interment Dunmore Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m.
