Dennis Owens Jr., 39, a lifelong resident of Taylor, died Saturday after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife, Kim Rosencrance Owens and two adoring children, Madyson Elizabeth and Mason Jeffery Owens.

Son of Dennis Sr. and Donna Kalinich Owens of Taylor, Dennis was a 1991 graduate of Riverside Junior-Senior High School. He was employed by the Abington Heights School District. One of his greatest passions came in serving the community as Rescue Captain for the Taylor Fire and Rescue. He is also survived by his sister, Jennifer, and her husband Nicholas Gilchrist, Old Forge.
The funeral with full honors by the Taylor Fire and Rescue is scheduled to begin on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with noon services at Countryside Community Church, 14011 Orchard Drive in Clarks Summit. Interment will follow at Milwaukee Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday between 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
His family would like to acknowledge and thank all of those associated with the Abington Heights School District, the Lackawanna County Juvenile Probation Department and the Taylor Fire and Rescue for their generosity and support.
