William E. Hendrian, 91, died Tuesday at Belle Reve Senior Living Center, Milford.

Born in New York City in 1921, son of the late Frances and August Hendrian, he graduated from Mechanicsburg High School in 1939. During World War II, he served as a fighter pilot, flying P-47s and P-51s from England and Belgium with the "Blue Noser" 352nd Fighter Group. During two tours of 136 missions as flight leader, he received three Distinguished Flying Crosses and 10 air medals.
In 1949, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in industrial arts from Millersville University and arrived in Milford to teach in the Delaware Valley School District for 34 years. While a teacher, he worked at assorted summer jobs, including 10 years as a technician with the Delaware Rivermaster's Office and 20 years of teaching swimming.
Surviving are a daughter, Linda Kay Hendrian, Milford; and son, Thomas Hendrian and wife, Mari, Clarks Summit.
