Robert William Eiffert Sr., "Big Bob," 68, of Throop, Pa., passed away peacefully on Friday, March 1, 2013, in Hospice at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. Bob is survived by his wife Carol Ann Shea Eiffert. They would have been married 42 years on April 16.

He was extremely loving and proud of his two sons, Christopher, Ohio; and Robert Jr. and his wife, Darby, Olyphant. He also is survived by his sister, Ruth Hughes of Seymour, Conn.; and his nine grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Nell and James Eiffert; and a daughter, Judith Dippre.
Bob was born and raised in Scranton where he attended Hickory Street Presbyterian Church. He found great happiness in dressing as Santa for sick children at the local hospital. He was always there to help friends with household projects or whatever else they needed him for. Bob worked at Topps Chewing Gum, Duryea, for over 25 years. He then worked for Community Building Services, Scranton, until he retired.
A special thank you to Geisinger in Danville, Allied Rehabilitation Scranton and Geisinger CMC ICU and Hospice units for their loving care and support.
The funeral will be Thursday at noon in the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1240 St. Ann's St., Scranton, with services by the Rev. Dr. Stuart T. Wilson, interim pastor, Hickory Street Presbyterian Church. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
Friends may call Thursday 10:30 a.m. until time of service.
