Lenore Theresa Zeglen, 85, of Hawley, died on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at home surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Arthur F. Zeglen, M.D. The couple married on April 21, 1951, at Maternity BVM Church in Bustleton, Pa.

She was born on November 16, 1927 in Philadelphia, Pa., daughter of the late Thomas J. and Winifred M. McGovern Smith. Lenore was a graduate of St. Hubert's High School for Girls, class of 1945 and in 1949 graduated from Immaculata College.

A housewife and mother, she took a great interest in raising horses. She was an excellent equestrian and won many blue ribbons over the years. She also enjoyed gardening. She had a great love of animals and enjoyed having many cats, dogs and other pets over the years.

Lenore was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Hawley.

She is now at peace, no longer in pain and suffering. She was the most kind, caring, supportive and loving wife, mother and grandmother we could have asked for. She is now at rest in a better place reunited with those she has lost and busy riding her horse, Dolly. Even though she will be greatly missed she will always have a home in our hearts. We love you Lenore, Ma and Mom Mom!

Also surviving are her sons, Kurt T. Zeglen, M.D. and wife, Debbie of Dunmore, Pa.; Barry F. Zeglen and wife, Brenda of Beach Lake; and Lance A. Zeglen of Bethlehem, Pa.; daughters, Lisa M. Roegner and husband, James of Sterling, Pa.; and Karen L. Bates of Honesdale; grandchildren, Colin and Rachel Zeglen, Natalie Zeglen, Shane, Courtney and Heidi Roegner, and Scott and Keith Bates; her brother, Maurice Smith, VMD of Princeton, N.J.; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Winifred Torpey.

In lieu of flowers, what would give her the most joy would be for everyone to share some special time with their loved ones.

As per her request, cremation was held. A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, April 13 at 9:30 at Queen of Peace Church in Hawley. Arrangements by Hessling Funeral Home Inc., 428 Main St., Honesdale. Condolences: www.hesslingfu neralhome.com
