Elmer J. Byers, Scranton, died Sunday at home. His wife is the former Lois Sgobba Seymour Byers. The couple had been married five years. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Taiko Otomo Byers, on Jan. 3, 1991.

Born in Dalton and educated in Dalton public schools, he was an Army veteran, having served during World War II. Before retirement he was employed at Goex Manufacturing, Moosic.

Also surviving are two sons, Kenneth Byers, Dickson City; and James Byers, Florida; two daughters, Kathy Byers, Scranton; and Emily Byers, Clarks Summit; two step-sons, Richard Seymour, Wilkes-Barre; and James Seymour, Scranton; two step-daughters, Linda Loposky, Jessup; and Cindy James, Scranton; grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by brothers and sisters.

The funeral will Wednesday at 8 p.m. in the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1240 St. Ann St., with services by the Rev. Arthur Davis, pastor Asbury United Methodist Church. Interment private at the convenience of the family.

Friends may call Wednesday 6 to 8 p.m.
