Francis T. Sutor, 87, of Waymart, died Monday at Ellen Memorial Health Care Center, Honesdale, after an illness. His wife of 45 years, the former Lillian Krezon, died in 1994.

Born in Binghamton, N.Y., son of the late Frank and Anna Rudy Sutor, he was a 1941 graduate of Waymart High School and a World War II Army veteran. He was certified in electrical engineering through ICS and piano tuning through the Niles Bryant School of Piano Tuning. He also completed courses in Princeton, N.J., for computer programming and for radio and TV repair through the BD&K Vocational School of Radio and Television in Vandling.
For most of his life he was a test engineer for Link Aviation in Binghamton. He retired from Weston/Fairchild in Archbald, now the Lockheed Martin Corp., where he was employed as a technical writer. Well known for his piano tuning and repair skills, he was also an accomplished jazz guitarist and pianist and spent many enjoyable years playing in a jazz band trio with his brother, Tom. Francis was big-hearted, well-liked and respected in the community, and was a member of St. Mary's Church in Waymart.
He is survived by a son, Dave and wife, Ann Marie Omerza Sutor, Carbondale; a daughter, Susan L. Richter and husband, Jeff, Waymart; a sister, Ann Lilje and husband, Karl, Arizona; a sister-in-law, Anna Sutor, Waymart; a grandson, Jamie Francis Sutor; two stepgrandchildren, Alex and Jessie Richter; nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Thomas.
His family is honoring his request for cremation and private interment at Canaan Corners Cemetery.
There will be no public services. Arrangements are through the Jenkins Funeral Home, 269 Belmont St., Waymart.
