Anna Kozumbo Aniunas, 101, died peacefully on Friday, June 21, 2013, at St. Mary's Villa Nursing Home in Elmhurst Township, Pa., where she was a resident since January. Anna would have celebrated her 102nd birthday on July 14. Her husband, Joseph A. Aniunas, died in August 2002.

Anna was born in Kaska, Pa., on July 14, 1911, to the late Peter and Mary Kozumbo. She moved to Plainfield, N.J., in 1930 and worked at Muhlenberg Hospital. In 1936, she married Joseph Aniunas and settled in South Plainfield, N.J., where she lived for sixty-six years. After the death of her husband, Anna moved to Big Bass Lake in Gouldsboro, Pa., to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Henry Menapace.
Anna was a founding member and member of the Altar Rosary Society of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church in South Plainfield and was a current member of St. Catherine of Siena Church in Moscow, Pa. She was also a lifetime member of the Polish National Home in South Plainfield. Anna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Anna was predeceased by her four brothers, John, Walter and Louis Kozumbo, and Joseph Kozimbo; and a sister, Frances Kozumbo Aniunas.
She is survived by her daughter, Louise and her husband, Henry Menapace of Big Bass Lake in Gouldsboro, Pa.; and her son, Joseph and his wife, Lillian Aniunas of Piscataway, N.J. Anna is also survived by eight grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 26, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the South Plainfield Funeral Home, 2456 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, N.J. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church in South Plainfield. Interment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery in South Plainfield.
