Born in Dunmore, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Maria Domenica Rinaldi Stango. He was a graduate of Dunmore High School and before retirement at age 75, was a life underwriter with New York Life Insurance Co. for more than 40 years. In the insurance industry, he held a lifetime membership in the Million Dollar Round Table, a nationwide organization for insurance agents. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He served the former aboard the USS Barnes. He was also a member of the American Legion for more than 50 years. Civic engagement was extremely important to Danny. He became involved with fundraising at the University of Scranton and was an avid supporter of the Kiwanis Club, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the fight against Juvenile Diabetes.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Danny lit up the room with his larger-than-life personality and penchant for storytelling. He touched the hearts of many with his vibrant, quirky sense of humor and endless repertoire of jokes.
