John J. Miskowski

John J. Miskowski, 71, of Taylor, died Wednesday at Commonwealth Hospice of NEPA. He is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Mary Ann Derenick Miskowski.

Born in Dickson City on Sept. 4, 1942, son of the late Joseph and Pearl Miskowski, John worked as a maintenance mechanic for McKinney Corp. until he retired in 2008. His family was the center of his life and he cherished each and every moment with them. Throughout his life, he enjoyed fishing and boating at Acre Lake and watching car races. During nice weather, John enjoyed sitting on his front porch with his wife and his cherished friend, Coco Puff.

Also surviving are two daughters, Linda Rutkowski and husband, Richard, Scranton; and Susan Manley and husband, Joseph, Dickson City; two grandchildren, R.J. Rutkowski and his wife, Samantha; and Sarah Haffner and husband, Anthony, all of Scranton; a sister; Mary Ann Rozaleski and husband, Walt, Maryland; a nephew, who was like a son to him, Ron Sosnoski and wife, Claudette, Michigan; a brother-in-law, Edward Derenick and wife, Helen, Taylor; nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Sosnoski.

The Miskowski family would like to express its deepest gratitude to doctors Lisa Thomas, Robert Kaville, Madhava Baikadi and their entire staff for their care, comfort and understanding they gave John throughout his illness.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Semian funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor.
