Thomas M. Zavislak of Throop died at home on Thursday. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Legos Zavislak. They celebrated their 42nd anniversary on Sept. 25.

Born July 6, 1946, in the Parsons section of Wilkes-Barre, son of the late John and Mary Belding Zavislak, he was a 1964 graduate of Coughlin High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, and a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish at St. Anthony's Church, Throop. Tom previously worked at Leslie Fay, Wilkes-Barre, Gould Battery, Dunmore, and recently retired from Sandvik Steel, Waverly.
Tom enjoyed bowling and traveling around the world with his wife and best friend, Lorraine. Together they enjoyed making trips to different casinos.
Thomas is survived by three sons, Michael, and wife, Karen, Columbia, S.C.; Matthew and fiancée, Sarah Burke, Throop; Mark and fiancée, Amanda Roche, Archbald; two daughters, Melanie, and fiancé, Carlton Venson, Throop; and Marisa and fiancé, Jerome Weinfield, Great Falls, Va.; five grandchildren, Chloe, Chiara, Riley, Alexa and Ryan, who were the apple of Papa Tom's eyes and he loved them very much; and aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Jack; and father and mother-in-law, Basil and Josephine Legos.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the John F. Glinsky Funeral Home, 445 Sanderson St., Throop, followed by Mass at 9:30 at St. Anthony's Church, Throop. Interment, St. Anthony's Cemetery, Dickson City.
A viewing is scheduled Monday from 5 to 8 p.m.
