Darlene Ann DiLeo, 47, of Scranton, died Sunday evening in the VNA Hospice at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton.
Born in Scranton, she was the loving daughter of Samuel M. and Helen Rose Hynosky DiLeo of Scranton. She was a graduate of Riverside High School, class of 1984, graduated from Penn State University, attended the University of Scranton and earned a master's degree in clinical psychology from Marywood University. Darlene was a member of St. Ann's Basilica in Scranton and had been formerly employed as manager at Salerno's Cafe in Old Forge.
She was a competitive roller skater, a member of various skating and ski clubs, and a finalist in 1983 for the Miss Teen USA Magazine cover.
She enjoyed many sports, especially horse racing and the NFL, and cheering for her beloved New York Yankees and New York Jets. Darlene enjoyed horseback riding, skiing, watching episodes of the television show, "Duck Dynasty," and loved the Rolling Stones. She had a big heart, would help anyone in need and will be missed by all who knew her.
Also surviving are a sister, Kim Connelly and husband, Raymond; a nephew, Louis; uncles, Corky and Joe; aunts, Betty, Mary and Tootsie; as well as numerous cousins.
The family would like to extend a special thanks and love to Dr. Dempsey and cousins, Tony, Terri, Diane, Mary Ann, Johnny and Toni Ann for all of their continued support.
The funeral will be Thursday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St, Dunmore, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Basilica. Interment will follow on the family lot in Dunmore Cemetery.
