Marie C. Neary, 95, formerly of the Green Ridge section of Scranton, died Thursday morning at Abington Manor, where she had been a resident. She is the widow of Anthony Neary, who died June 14, 1996. They were married for 52 years.

Born in Bronx, N.Y., daughter of the late James and Delia Coggins Crane, she was raised by the late Jack and Celia Rafferty. She was a graduate of the former Scranton Technical High School, and a member of St. Clare's Church and its choir, Altar and Rosary Society. Marie was employed by the Aetna Corp., and retired from Marywood University, where she worked in the library and also the graduate dean's department as a secretary. Marie was a member of St. Joseph's Center Auxiliary and the Theresians of Scranton. She was also a volunteer for the pro-life movement.
Surviving are daughters, Mary Stanton and husband, Kenneth, Smithtown, N.Y.; and Ann Marie Cerra and husband, Tony, Clarks Summit; a son, Joseph Neary and wife, Rusi, Philadelphia; and grandsons Kevin Stanton, D.M.D., Brian Stanton and Christian and A.J. Cerra.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Bernard and James Crane; and sister, Delia Morrison.
The family would like to acknowledge caregiver Becky Dunleavy, Scranton, for her exceptional care and kindness to Marie.
The funeral will be held Monday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Clare's Church, 2301 N. Washington Ave., Scranton. Interment, St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow.
Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Eugene A. Cusick Funeral Home, 217 Jefferson Ave., Scranton.
