Samantha Henehan Obituary
Born in Scranton, daughter of Martin and Stacy Schmidt Henehan, she was educated in Scranton public schools and recently employed by Wells Fargo. She was kind and loving to all who knew her and was quick to lend a hand to all who were struggling with the disease of addiction. Sammi was beautiful inside and out, the apple of her mother's eye, and never spoke a harsh word about anyone.
Also surviving are a brother, Marty Jr.; longtime companion, Paul Canavan, Clarks Summit; grandparents, Joseph and Jacquelyn Judge Schmidt, and Theresa Henehan; aunts and uncles, Joanne Sherman Schmidt, Elizabeth Freund Schmidt, Joseph Schmidt Jr., Roy John Sherman, Edward Henehan Jr., Catherine Mann, Theresa Nicolais, Sue Studenski, Jerome Henehan, Helen Henehan; Linda Forgione and husband, Charles; Sean Henehan; and Thomas Henehan and wife, Dawn; and cousins, Kayla and Carley Sherman, Joseph Schmidt Jr. and Daniel Schmidt.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Edward L. Henehan; and her cousin, "Bubba" Roy John Sherman Jr.
The funeral will be Friday at 9:45 a.m. from the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1240 St. Ann's St., with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Ann's Basilica. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday, 4 to 8 p.m.

It’s been my experience that time does not heal the loss of a child .... we just find a way to survive with that pain Much good has been done is Sammi’s name but she is still missed by many Thinking of all who love her but especially mom and dad may u find some comfort in all that good done in her name

Although I didn't know Samantha, my boyfriend Mike Frankowski is a friend of Sam's father Marty and m0ther Stacy. I am so sorry that Marty and Stacy lost their daughter Sam to an overdose. I know the pain myself, since I lost my son and only child Douglas Koziel, about a month before Sam passed away. He died on March 9th of 2016. I spoke to Stacy briefly after her daughter passed away. I just received this email toady which is about 3 years later. My thought and prayers will always be with Marty and Stacy and their families. There is no pain that is worse than losing your child.

My heart goes out to all who are suffering because of her loss. Marty, her father is my first cousin. Aunt Nancy, Uncle Red my parents.This family has lost our sister Jackie, cousin Mary and others to this very disease. It is life altering. I feel blessed that my own son was pulled back from the brink of death, but it is a daily reprieve. As I write this I cannot stop the tears, she was so young! Anyone reading this with the same disease, please know that there is always hope! As long as you are still breathing, there is always a way back! It destroys those who love you, and it can be done! This is such a tragedy! A sweet young girl stolen away from her family! We are loosing too many young people to this disease! My heart and prayers are with you all!

I remember Sammi from The Covenant Church. She had a caring smile and a good program. Always enjoyed small talk with her and listening to her Chair. I feel for entire family. I am also grieving the death of a loved one. A very trying and painful time.
