Miranda Ferguson Obituary
Born in Scranton, she was the loving daughter of Ann Marie Riggi-Hopkins of Scranton and Lee Ferguson and his wife, Michelle, of Dunmore. Miranda was a graduate of Scranton High School and had been employed at both Gerrity's Supermarket and Hobby Lobby as a department manager.
Miranda was a loving and caring mother to her beautiful daughter, Baylee, whom she adored. She was a loving sister and caretaker to her brothers. Miranda always loved a challenge, especially to better herself. She worked from putting shelves together all the way to department management at Hobby Lobby. Miranda's interests included her love of music and her talent as a hair and makeup artist plus traveling to the beach and swimming in the ocean. She will be remembered for her bond and respect for the elders in the family, especially her grandparents, as she truly enjoyed spending time with them and learning from them.
In addition to her parents, Miranda is survived by her daughter, Baylee Marie Ferguson, at home; brothers, Thomas "TJ" Harrison, at home; and Ian Boni, Los Angeles, Calif.; stepbrother, Timothy; stepsisters, Katie, Jennelle and Amanda Hopkins; stepfathers, Thomas Harrison Sr. and Kelly Patrick Hopkins; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Joseph and Dolores Riggi; paternal grandparents, Barbara and Roy Ferguson; and step grandparents, Phil and Ida Chiarelli; two uncles, Jay Ferguson and Stephen Riggi; and a cousin, Cherlyn Ferguson.
The funeral will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St. in Dunmore. Burial will follow in the Dunmore Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. with a blessing service to be held at 6:30 by the Rev. Michael Bryant.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Baylee Ferguson Scholarship Fund.

The family wants to break the silence of addiction. To anyone reading this obituary, this demon is still out on the streets waiting to kill the next innocent suffering person thinking about using or having reservations. I did not know Miranda but unfortunately I do know what addiction does to a family. My heart breaks for your family. Thank you for such an honest obituary. It is because of an obituary like this that my son is now in rehab. We went to the extent of having him arrested for simple assault to request court ordered rehab. It was no longer a question of if.... but when we would lose him to this awful disease. Our battle is far from over. I can't imagine what it's like to bury your child and I hope u never find out. I am so very sorry for your loss. Addiction is a terrible thing. I wish their were more resources out there. I know a few addicts that have passed & tried to get in treatment and were refused treatment due to lack of insurance or type of insurance. Something needs to be done, there needs to be more programs, more help. Families shouldn't have to go through this. God bless. May your sweet Miranda rest in peace.
