BEST Professor Geoffrey Francis Andrew died peacefully on 14th January 2018, aged 89. Emeritus Fellow of the British Academy, former Fellow of Trinity Hall, Cambridge, Professor of History at Edinburgh, Dean of European Studies at Sussex, Academic Visitor at LSE and Senior Member of St Antony's College, Oxford. Historian of mid-Victorian Britain, modern warfare and its laws, and Sir Winston Churchill, connoisseur of literature, music, art and architecture, much-loved husband of Marigold, father of Simon, Edward and Rosie and mentor to the many colleagues and students who benefited from his wisdom, wit and generous hospitality.
