I have many happy memories of collaborating with Peter in the 80s based around his wonderful insights embedded in the GRID programme. He was always so generous with his time. He would invariably start a conversation with Two things, Michael.... and would then go on to share at least three things! Not only did his work illuminate on binding sites but he was a strong influence on early Fragment Based Drug Discovery, which can be considered as the experimental version of Grid..Peter's influence on our thinking led to several papers (eg Recap and Molecular Complexity) which document further his influence across the breadth of drug discovery. A wonderful gentleman and scientist.

I met Peter 30 years ago when finishing my Chemistry BA and studying for a DPhil. A lovely man with the patience and time to explain and help everyone he met. What a sad loss.

I had too few opportunities to meet Peter in person, but for those times when I did the greatness of his human and scientific soul made those conversations unforgettable to me.

I was honoured to meet Peter many years ago, when I started to walk the path of scientific research. He always was to me a master, a model and a light in dark moments. I am grateful to him for his work, his generosity and kindness. He is no longer with us, but he will live in the memory of everybody who knew him; colleagues, disciples, friends. Rest in peace.

I met Peter in 2001, and I was invited to study with him at the Oxford University. Since then, my life has changed.
He has always challenged me, changing entirely my way to work.
I consider him as my scientific Father, and I will always owe him what I have scientifically become in the present.

I first met Dr. Goodford when I entered the business back in the 80's, and continued our acquaintance at conferences and seminars since then. I eagerly followed his group's work, and even enjoyed his dinner conversation a time or two. A true scholar and a scientific gentleman...
