Roland was my Grandfather, I may not have understood much about his Career when I was young I just remember the warm kind presence he always had. I miss you Grandpa, I am lucky to be able to search your name and read all the wonderful things you had done in one life time.

i HAVE SUCH A CLEAR MEMORY OF rOLAND AND HIS mOTHER FOR WE LIVED IN THE SAME STREET, sHORT bRIDGE STREET IN lLANIDLOES, mID wALES. i CAN STILL PICTURE HIM GOING UP THE STREET ON HIS WAY TO SCHOOL WITH HIS SATCHEL OVER HIS SHOULDER .i LATER WENT TO THE SAME SECONDARY SCHOOL AND IN MY SCHOOL AND UNIVERSITY HOLIDAYS WORKED IN THE LOCAL POST OFFICE WITH HIS AUNT ADA WHO CLEANED THE PLACE
