My condolences to all her family. Santina was so generous in sharing her great expertise and on many occasions helped me identifying a newly aquire lace treasure.

Santina's knowledge and expertise of lace and textiles was amazing. I aspired for some years to one day acquire her weighty tome "Lace. A History" and was overjoyed when one eventually came my way, it is greatly treasured, as are all her books, which have been an important point of reference to me over the years. She will be greatly missed by so many, my condolences to her family.

Her book Lace: A History has informed a generation of lace scholars and remains the most comprehensive reference on the subject.

At an exhibition of lace at the V&A museum, I bought her very heavy, but most wonderful book "Lace - A History" which I had to lump around London, but cherish very much.
A big "thank you" for her contributions to lace, and my condolences to her family and friends.

It is a testimony to her international reputation that I heard about her passing through an American lace collector and a fellow curator also in the USA. I passed the message on to people who knew her in Germany and Belgium. She was a dedicated and very gifted scholar, a wonderful friend and an amazing human being. Spending time with her in London was Always a feast. She shared her home, good food, ideas. We had lovely walks, went to the theatre...
When I entered the field of textiles in the 70's, she was the shining example of what I wanted to be as a scholar and museum curator.
She would be happy to see that in the UK a whole new generation keeps textile studies going strong. I hope it will be a consolation to her family that she will be very fondly remembered in many countries.
