Annie "Ruth" Hobbs

Annie "Ruth" Hobbs Ft. Gratiot Annie "Ruth" Hobbs, 98, died Saturday, January 12, 2013 in Port Huron Hospital. She was born November 12, 1914 in Deckerville to the late Edward H. and Margaret Hobbs. Ruth graduated from Deckerville High School. She worked at the Times Herald for over 40 years retiring in March of 2008. She was a member and past Grand of the Blue Water Odd Fellow Lodge #138 I.O.O.F. and past Noble Grand of Oakleaf Rebekah Lodge #113. She was a charter member of the Ladies Encampment Auxiliary #158 of Michigan in 1974 and reached the rank of Chief Matriarch in 1981. She enjoyed sewing, cross stitch, cooking and traveling. She is survived by many nieces and nephews including JoAnna Sturdevant, Ed (Linda) Schultz and James (Linda) Schultz; and several other family members. She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas E. Hobbs on January 6, 2013. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 in Masonic Center of Port Huron, 927 6th Street. The Oakleaf Lodge #113 will conduct the service. Memorials may be made to Tall Oaks Odd Fellow-Rebekah Camp in Baldwin, Michigan or to wishes of the family.
