Daniel Martin Kiefer
Daniel Martin Kiefer, 70, of Port Huron, passed away on July 27, 2013 in his home after a long illness with Lu and Gisele by his side.
He was born on April 11, 1943 in Highland Park, son of the late Robert and Caryl Kiefer.
Daniel married Lucienne M. Pettee on March 21, 1970 in Port Huron.
He graduated from Port Huron High School in 1961 and then attended Port Huron Junior College followed by University of Michigan
. Dan was an avid musician and won the John Phillips Sousa Award; he was awarded a scholarship to Interlochen Music Academy and was in the University of Michigan Marching Band on a scholarship.
Dan worked at WHLS & WPHM for several years in media sales. He was also a local realtor and owner of Kiefer's Fast-R-Photo.
He was the Inaugural President of the Wadhams Council of Commerce. He also served as past president of the Port Huron Host Lions Club.
Dan was an award winning photographer and many of his photos hang in Port Huron Hospital. He was an avid hockey enthusiast and served as an Off Ice Official for over 14 years at McMorran Arena. Dan loved music, photography and hockey. He was a hockey memorabilia collector.
He is survived by his wife, Lucienne of Port Huron; sister-in-law, Gisele Pettee of Port Huron; two nieces: Christina (Robert) Ryder of Florida and Laura (Ralph) Kinsley of Lexington; nephew, Michael (Kathleen) Smith of Port Huron Twp.; several grandnieces and nephews and cousins; a lifelong friend, Don Stoner and a longtime friend of Alan R. Jowett.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave. at 17th Street, Port Huron. Wendy Cote will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Roger Oudin, Alan R. Jowett, Nick Jowett, Andrew Jowett, David Dazer, Tom DeRush, Bill Shaw and Louis Oudin.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Terry Pettee, Don Stoner, Gary Shaw, Tim Ojczyk and David Houck.
