Donald B. Havens


Donald B. Havens, 78, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Port Huron, Michigan. He was born March 18, 1935 in Hartford, Michigan. Son of the late Forrest and Miriam (Lucas) Havens. Married to Alma V. Parker on April 18, 1956 in Applegate, Michigan.

Don graduated from Sandusky High School and Central Michigan University. He married Alma Vera Parker and immediately went overseas to Germany, serving his 2 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Upon return he started his career with Michigan National Bank in Flint, moving to Bad Axe to continue his career in banking. And then moved to Applegate, retiring from Exchange State Bank, Deckerville. Don was a member of the Applegate First United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Men, and he was the church treasurer. Donald served as Applegate Village Treasurer for thirteen years.

He is survived by his wife, Alma Havens. Four daughters: Sharlet (Bob) Lee, of Colorado; Sandra Bulemore, of Owosso; Stephanie (Jeff) Krohn, of Elkton and Shelly (Brad) Truxall, of Indiana. Seven grandchildren: Lauren, Rachel, Leslie, Nathan, Brandon, Andrew and Matthew. One brother, Robert (Judy) Havens, of Wisconsin. Several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation Thursday, August 22nd , from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Hacker Funeral Parlors, Sandusky and on Friday, August 23rd from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at the church.

Funeral Services will be: Friday, August 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Applegate First United Methodist Church.

Officiating: Pastor Nick Genoss, Applegate Pastor Jackie Roe, Cass City

Burial will be in: Washington Twp. Cemetery, Carsonville, Michigan
