Elizabeth (Betty) Jean Campbell

 Elizabeth (Betty) Jean Campbell  left this world on October 1, 2013, at the age of 90.

She was born January 10, 1923 in Abrams, WI to George and Laura Tibbetts. She married her childhood friend Robert A. Campbell on December 20, 1946.

Betty grew up in Lansing, Michigan and moved to Port Huron in 1953. She attended Michigan State University, earning Bachelors and Masters Degrees in education.

She was a special education teacher in the Port Huron Area School District for 28 years, a member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority, First Congregational Church and the Vivian Club of BPOE Lodge 343.

Her interests included playing bridge, writing poetry, collecting figurines and dolls. She enjoyed the companionship of pets throughout her life.

She is survived by her children, Thomas (Connie) Campbell of Kennebunk, ME, Ann (Gary) Gouin of Jeddo, John Campbell of Fort Gratiot, Mark (Denise) Campbell of Chicago; nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Robert A. Campbell, infant son, Robert Jr.; and two brothers, Roland and Robert Tibbetts.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, October 4, 2013 in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Rev. Lee Acervo will officiate.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, October 4, 2013 in the funeral home.

Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.
