George Junga

George Jay Junga


Age 88, died Tuesday, May 13, 2014 in Medi Lodge of Port Huron.

He was born August 16, 1925 in Detroit, son of the late George B. and Josephine (Moe) Junga.  He and Therese F. "Tess" Torzewski were married July 1, 1950 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Croswell.

George was a WW II veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.  He worked in the tube mill at Mueller Brass Co. for 36 years.  He was a member of St. Patrick Cahtolic Church, Croswell and the Ushers Club and a Legion of Mary server.  He was active in Boy Scouting for many years.

Surviving are his wife Tess; sons Stephen (Barbara), Jay (Wanita), George (Kelly), Joseph (Dorothy), James (Denise), Greg, and Dan;  daughter Judene (Shawn) Heacock;  brother Arthur "Skip" and a sister Shirley Mayville; eighteen grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by brothers John and Ronald and sisters Ruth Moeckel and Margaret Cenek.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 A.M. Friday at Ave Maria Parish-St. Patrick Church, Croswell.  The Rev. Donald Eppenbrock will officiate.  Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.  Military rites by Croswell American Legion Post #255.

Friends may call at the Pomeroy Funeral Home, Croswell from 2 to 9 P.M. Thursday and 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. Friday. Vigil service at 7 P.M. Thursday.
