Gerald Lloyd Saunders, 91, of St. Clair, died Friday, April 04, 2014.

He was born February 20, 1923 in Smiths Creek to the late Finley and Anna Saunders.  He married Marie Fogal on December 8, 1979 in Port Huron.

Gerald graduated from Marysville High School with honors in 1941. He served in the United States Navy during World War II.  He worked as a mason with his brother, George, for over 50 years for Saunders Construction.  He was a member of International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftsman.  He enjoyed gardening, flowers, hunting, the outdoors and especially spending time his family.

He is survived by his wife, Marie; five brothers, George, Norman, and William Saunders, Paul (Clarice) Saunders and Robert (Jan) Saunders; four sisters, Eleanor Angove, Janet (Bud) Sebastian, Phyllis (Thomas) Gates and Margaret (Joe) Sedwick; and many nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by a sister, Mary Kasbohm; three sisters in law, Ceil, Sara and Barb; and two brothers in law, Ernie Angove and Don Kasbohm.

Visiting hours will be 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Sunday in Smith Family Funeral Home-South.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 7, 2014 in Smith Family Funeral Home-South, 1230 7th Street, Port Huron with visitation starting at 9:30 a.m.  Reverend Max Amstutz will officiate.

Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Gerald's nephews.

Military Honors will be conducted under the auspices of the Veterans Honor Guard Alliance.

Memorials may be made to wishes of the family.
