 Mary M. Kress, 88, of Port Huron passed away Monday, September 30, 2013.

She was born March 6, 1925 in Detroit to the late Harvey and Henrietta Lennon.  She married William S. Kress on June 7, 1947 in Speaker Township.  They had been married for 66 years.

Mary graduated from Port Huron Jr. College in 1944 and then went on to graduate from Eastern Michigan University with a teaching degree. She taught at Speaker Township School, Wadhams School and Eddy Elementary School, St. Clair.  She retired in 1978.  She attended Ross Bible Church. She enjoyed playing the piano, was an excellent writer and enjoyed being with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, William S. Kress; her daughter, Carole (John) Dell; her son, Michael Kress; six grandchildren, Erin (Michael) DeViney, Allison Kress, Jonathan (Rachael) Dell, Caitlin (Walker) Foland, Breanna (Jeremy) Thornton and Jeffrey Dell; five great grandchildren, Ragan and Evelyn DeViney, Lydia and William E. Foland and Jack Dell; and her sister, Jean Carty.  She is preceded in death by a son, William B. Kress; and a brother, Blake Lennon.

Visiting hours will be 6-9 p.m. Tuesday in Smith Family Funeral Home-North.

A private family memorial service will be held.

Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials may be made to Ross Bible Church or The Salvation Army.
