Paul Farr

Paul Frederick "Buffer" Farr

I Paul Frederick "Buffer" Farr walk away from life at the age of 61 after a nine year battle with multiple cancers.

I would like to thank everyone for letting me meet you, it has been my pleasure.

Paul was born to the late William J. and Mae M. Farr, Oct. 29, 1952. Buff graduated from Port Huron High School in 1971 and married Patricia (Pat) Farr (nee Hanel) on June 6, 1984. He retired 7 years ago from Port Huron Hospital after working there for 20 years to the day.

Paul was not only an avid traveler, history buff and music enthusiast, but also a dedicated and knowledgeable baseball (Dodgers) and hockey (Bruins) fan. He loved playing hockey and Bingo, reading and talking sports, food, travel, history (esp. the Civil War) and biographies. He spent many road trips visiting historic sites and natural wonders around the country and every Civil War battleground memorial site he could. He delighted in discovering new music, whether it was a local band or a hidden world music gem.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Robert W. Farr and is survived by: his wife Pat and his very special daughter Sheila Welsh; his sister-in-law Gayle M. Farr; nieces Carol Lynn Farr-Raisauda (Upinder), Heather Farr Hammond (Thomas), Erin L. Gougam (Adel); brother-in-laws Robert Hanel (Maydeen) and Clifford Hanel (Connie); sister-in-laws Marlene Hanel and Barbara Schott (Chris) and a host of longtime friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Port Huron Minor Hockey Association.  Donations can be made during visitation at the funeral home or mailed to either of the Smith Family Funeral Homes at 1230 7th Street or 1525 Hancock Street.
