Robert Miles Ling
Robert Miles Ling, 81, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2014 in Granbury, TX.
Funeral service was held at DFW National Cemetery, May 7, 2014.
Robert married Ruth Collett on June 3, 1961 in Dallas, TX, he was a fireman
for the City of Irving for six years and a U. S. Postal employee until his retirement in 1989. In 1992 they moved to Granbury, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Miles H. and Genevieve Pletcher Ling; sister, Donna Drown; nephew, Mark Drown and a great great neice, Kelly Shehan.
Mr. Ling had a great interest in local government and was a candidate for City Council in Irving, TX in 1968 and a Mayoral candidate in 1971 prior to moving to Granbury. In 1998 he was a candidate for Hood County Commissioner.
He spent three years in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War.
Survivors: wife, of 52 years, Ruth Ellen Collett Ling; son, Robert Thomas Ling and wife Wendy; grandchildren, Shannon Ling, Caitlin Ling Fletcher, Alejandra Fletcher and great grandson, Jaden; sisters, Louise Brown and husband Ray, Genevieve Stevens and Marilyn Herbert; neices and nephews, Cheryl Maddock, Wendy Herbert, Clint Herbert and wife Lisa, Lorie Grant and husband Robert, Patty Grant and husband Ronald, Patrick Stevens, Dawn, Richard King and wife, Charis, Pamela Flippen and Terry Edwards and husband Kenneth; brothers-in-law, Robert Lewis Collett and Harold Drown; many great neices and nephews and great great neices and nephews.
