Violando Fiorani

The world is a little less colorful with the passing of Violando Fiorani.  He died on March 30, 2014 surrounded by his loving family and his devoted caregivers at Mallard's Landing.

He was born in Aurora, Minnesota on November 19, 1917 to the late William and Olga Fiorani.  He survived three wonderful wives:  Virginia Mathias (1956), Shirley Stilwell (1974), and Velma Wilson (1996).  He was proud of his sixty-four year membership in Operating Engineers Local 324.  After his retirement, he spent much of his time at Indian Palms in Indio, California, where he enjoyed playing golf and tap dancing.

He is survived by his children, Donald (Carol), Robert (Barbara), Timothy (Lenora), Sharon (George) Joachim, and Douglas (Theresa); 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.  He also leaves behind many dear friends who were like family to him.  He was predeceased by 4 brothers and a sister. 

A Memorial visitation will be held from 4-9 PM Tuesday April 1, 2014 in Gilbert Funeral Home 1422 Michigan St.  Algonac, Michigan.  A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Wednesday April 2, 2014 in the Our Lady on the River Parish St. Catherine Church, Algonac.  There will be a private ceremony for his interment at Holy Sepulcher Mausoleum in Southfield, Michigan.  Memorial donations may be made to the or Special Olympics.
