Wilfred H. Walters

Wilfred H. Walters Burtchville Wilfred H. Walters, 95, of Burtchville, died Saturday, May 12, 2012. He was born March 13, 1917 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Alfred J. and Hennie Walters. He married Valerie Smrcina on April 29, 1939. She died in 1985. Mr. Walters was employed as a corrections officer with the State of Michigan at the Jackson Prison. He was a member of the Moose Lodge of Jackson and enjoyed shuffleboard while living in Florida. He is survived by two daughters, Linda I. Clay of Lakeport and Sharon (Philip) Garbe of Mendota, IL; 14 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Day of Livonia; several nieces and nephews; and his companion and special friend, Margaret Parker of East Lansing. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael J. Walters in 2010 and a sister, Helen Viets. Visitation will be Tuesday evening 7-9 p.m. in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home, 912 Lapeer Avenue, Port Huron. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2012 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. Pastor Paul Kruse of Light of Christ Lutheran Church will officiate.
