Ralph Scheffler Obituary

Ralph A. Scheffler Marysville Mr. Ralph Allen Scheffler, 83, of Marysville, died Saturday, October 2, 2010. He was born November 16, 1926 in Port Huron to the late Christian and Adeline Scheffler. He married Esther Hopp on November 24, 1951 in Port Huron. She died June 10, 1978. Mr. Scheffler served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines during World War II. He worked as a conductor/brakeman for Grand Trunk Western Railroad and then was a trainman for Amtrak on the Port Huron to Chicago route until his retirement in 1991. He was a 36-year member of Marysville Post #449 American Legion. As a young man he also sailed the Great Lakes. He was a devoted father and grandfather. He was an avid reader with a keen interest in world and family events. He attended the First Church of the Nazarene. He is survived by three sons, Mr. and Mrs. Gary (Patti Davis) Scheffler of Port Huron, Mr. and Mrs. David (Lori) Scheffler of Lovell, Wyoming, Mr. and Mrs. Mark (Bonnie) Scheffler of North Street; three daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Alan R. (Susan) Booth of Port Huron, Linda Shook of Manistee, and Mr. and Mrs. Sammy (Carol) Baker of Fort Gratiot; fifteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three brothers, Lyle W. Scheffler of Marysville, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald E. (Florence) Scheffler of Port Huron and Mr. and Mrs. Victor C. (Jan) Scheffler of Grand Rapids; two sisters, Mrs. Les (Mary Lou) Griffus of Manistee and Mrs. Diana Dalallata of California; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Edgar Lloyd Scheffler in 1974 and a sister, Zada E. Lautner in 1988. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the Marysville Funeral Home, 1200 Michigan Avenue. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 7, 2010 in the Marysville Funeral Home. The Reverend Keith A. Sparks Sr. of First Church of the Nazarene will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fort Gratiot Township. Pallbearers will be Justin Scheffler, Don Leach, Larry Lautner, Matt Graw, Craig Scheffler, Joel Scheffler, Jeffrey Scheffler and Jeff Ruttman. Graveside military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council. Memorials may be made to Youth for Christ. So sorry to hear about Your "daddy". Our kids still laugh about him being at our house and spitting his teeth out at them. I'm sure you all have wonderful memories maybe not all like that one, but good and fun memories. Thoughts and prayers are with you all.
