Betty Lou Barbe Marysville Betty Lou Barbe, 79, died Monday, May 9, 2011. She was born on May 14, 1931 on her family's farm in Croswell to the late Thomas H. and Ella E.J. Camm, the first born of seven children. She graduated from Croswell High School in 1949 and on July 23 of that year married the love of her life, Frank Barbe Jr. in St. Patrick's Catholic Church Rectory, Croswell. They were blessed with six sons. Frank died on December 9, 1994. Betty and Frank operated Barbe's Friendly Service Mobil Gas Station in Marysville for many years until their retirement in 1990. She was a longtime member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church who loved spending time and dining out with her sisters and wonderful friends. She felt incredibly blessed by her family, and when she couldn't be with them, enjoyed chatting on the phone. She enjoyed bowling, traveling, canoeing, camping, reading, playing cards, cheering on the Marysville High School football team, and cooking, especially her famous baked beans. Christmas Eve was her favorite time of year, when she would attend church, eat wonderful food, and watch the great grandchildren have their famous wrapping paper battles. She is survived by six sons, F. Douglas (Diane) Barbe of Denver, North Carolina, Thomas (Gloria) Barbe, Dennis (Susan) Barbe, Anthony "Tony" Barbe (Ginny Canham), and David (Annette) Barbe, all of Marysville, and Timothy (Taina) Barbe of Byron Center; 13 grandchildren, Brent (Maryann), Bryan (Audra), Sara (Michael), Megan, Tammy (Daniel), Stacey (Nick), Bridget, Marisa (Jeremy), Kelly (Joseph), Brooke, Bailey, Jordan and Heather; 15 great grandchildren, Paige, Michaela, Madalynn, Robert, Josh, Kaylee, Madison, Alexandra, Laney, Dion, Bradley, Jack, Derek, Nicholas and Tyler; four sisters, Patsy (Jim) Bennett, Linda Collins, Darlene Carpenter, and Rebecca (Ronald ) Schultz; a brother, Gary "Butch" (Marie) Camm; two sisters-in-law, Tootie Camm and Mary Wojtkowiak; a brother in law, Joseph (Kay) Barbe; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her step-father, Russell Moran; parents-in-law, Frank Sr. and Helen Barbe; a brother, T. Harold Camm; and brothers-in-law, Anthony Carpenter and Joseph Wojtkowiak. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the Marysville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 13, 2011 in Pilgrim Lutheran Church. The Reverend John W. Hitzeroth will officiate. Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery, Marysville. Pallbearers will be Mrs. Barbe's sons, as they were for their father. Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Griffin, Barry Griffin, Gary Chapman, Graham Baker, Duke Gorinac, and the late Bill Vincent.
