Carl T. Fox Goodells Carl T. Fox, 84, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 3, 2011, following a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. He was born on May 7, 1927 in Lambs, Michigan to the late Chester and Eliza Ann (Thomas) Fox. Carl graduated from Memphis High School in 1945. He married Margaret Sullivan on June 28, 1947 and they enjoyed many years of being a husband and wife team on the family farm. In 1955 the U.S. Army called Carl to service and he was deployed to the U.S. Army Garrison in Wiesbaden, Germany for peacetime occupation. He achieved the rank of Specialist Third Class and served his country until 1957. When he returned stateside, he resumed his passion of farming for another 50 years. Carl was employed by the St. Clair County Road Commission for over 13 years and served on the Wales Township Taxation Board of Review for many years. He looked forward to his annual "Father and Son Day" visiting the Thumb Area and Mid-Michigan John Deere dealerships. Carl was able to enjoy spending 23 winters in Zephyrhills, Florida with his wife, Margaret. He enjoyed bike riding, the Detroit Tigers spring training ball games, and numerous parades and festivals. Friends and family were usually treated to one or two of Carl's letters each winter as he was known for sending correspondence that would update the reader on the activities he was enjoying and a brief weather report about the sunny skies of Florida. Carl was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Goodells and for over 30 years he served as the Sunday School Superintendent, the Head Usher and a dedicated Church Board member. He dedicated his life to Christ at a very early age and his love of his Lord and Savior was reflected in the way he lived his life. He was kind, gracious and generous to the local farming community, friends, and, most of all, his family. Carl is survived by his wife of over 64 years, Margaret Fox of Goodells; son, Dennis (Kathy) Fox of Goodells; three granddaughters, Crystal Fox of Port Huron Township, and Stacy and April Fox of Goodells; nephew, Keith (Rose) Hines of El Paso, Texas; and his niece, Colleen Martin of Marysville. He was preceded in death by his only sister, Hilda F. Hines on April 15, 2010. Services will be on Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. in Kammeraad Funeral Home (80375 Main Street, Memphis, MI 48041) with Pastor Randall E. Clark officiating. Interment will follow in Memphis Cemetery. Carl's family will welcome visitors in the funeral home on Tuesday, December 6, 2011, 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. www.kammeraadfuneralhome.com In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Goodells, 2925 Goodells Rd., Goodells, MI 48027.
