Hazel Ames Port Huron Hazel Ames, 90, of Port Huron, died Sunday, April 24, 2011 in Port Huron Hospital. She was born December 27, 1920 in Port Huron to the late Andrew and Ethel Johnston. She married Edwin A. Ames on September 13, 1941 in Weatherford, Texas. He preceded her in death on July 29, 1995 after 54 years of marriage. Mrs. Ames retired from Impact Corporation in 1982 after working with developmentally disabled adults, who she clearly loved. She was a lifelong member of the Riverside Tabernacle Church of God and loved her church and church family with all of her heart. She is survived by her daughter, Debra (Gerald) Stoutenburg; two sons, Jeffrey (Marcia) Ames and Gary (Carrie) Ames; her beloved granddaughter, Jessica Lyn Ames; her great grandson, Max and another on the way; two brothers, Harvey Johnston and George Johnston; seven nieces and two nephews; and special friends, Jeanea Torrey, Rose Gahns, Mike and Beverley Foster and Laura Gieb. She was preceded in death by a son, Norman "Skip" Ames in 1979; two sisters and bothers-in-law, Esther and Bill York and Mabel and Glen Walters; a sister-in-law, Madlyn Johnston; and dear friends, Zellah Coyne and Norma Heath. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2011 in Riverside Tabernacle Church of God. The Reverend Richard Shelton will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Norm Fretenborough, Mike Foster, Bill Litten, Jim Harnek, Will Jones and Jerry Barrett. Honorary pallbearer will be Earl Wendt.
