Marvin Lasky, 78, passed away quietly on November 13, 2013. A former resident of St. Clair, Michigan, Marv graduated from Port Huron High School in 1952 and St. Clair County Community College in 1954 and attended Wayne State University. He married Barbara James in 1956 and served as a personnel clerk and a sergeant in the US Army from 1958-60.
Marv was active in many community organizations. He built his home in Marysville and served on the Zoning Board of Review, the Board of Appeals and was the Golf Commissioner for 13 years. He was a member of BPOE Elks Club for several years. After building his second home in St. Clair, he joined St. Clair River Country Club and served on the Club's Board of Directors. He also served on St. Clair Board of Review and Board of Appeals. Marv and Barb moved to Naples, Florida in November 2012.
Marv will be remembered as a loving, talented man who was happy to help anyone who needed anything fixed or repaired. He enjoyed playing golf, bridge, going on cruises and listening to classical music.
Marv is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara, a daughter, Lori Simoes (Douglas) of West Bloomfield and a son, Douglas James Lasky of Birmingham, one granddaughter Rachel Marie Simoes, brother in-law and sister in-law Gerald and Carol James of Naples, Florida and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Marie and Charles Lasky, and three siblings.
A memorial service will be held on November 17 at Shepherd of the Glades Church in Naples, Florida. A memorial will be held at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Marysville, Michigan, later this year.
