Nora Elston Peck Nora Elston of Peck passed away peacefully April 24, 2013 in her home surrounded by her loved ones. Nora was born September 25, 1920 to Charles and Mary Belle (Wilson) Hunt. She then married Dwight Elston October 16, 1952. They dairy farmed and raised their family on the farm near Peck. Dwight passed away November of 1972. Nora continued farming until 1982. Nora was an accomplished musician and played her fiddle at many jamborees and nursing homes in the area. She even went to Lansing to play for the Michigan Heritage Society of Fiddlers appearing on TV and Radio. Nora returned to Peck High School and received her diploma at age 65. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, and writing poetry and wrote many anecdotes of her family history. She is survived by her daughters Mary Lee (Carl) Vermeesch, Barbara (Paul) Falk, Penny Elston, sisters Erva (Bill) Maitland, Julia Smith, sisters-in-law Pat Hunt and Ida Clark. Many nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, special friend Helen McAllister, her ever loyal furry companion Tammy, and her very special friend and caregiver Pat Hobgood and husband Herschel. She was preceded in death by her husband Dwight, sister Lucille and brother Elmer Hunt. A visitation with viewing will be Sunday April 28, 2013 at Carman Funeral Home in Brown City from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Carman Funeral Home in Brown City. Memorials can be made to the wishes of the family.
