Robert "Rick" DeRue, age 64, formerly of Marine City, passed away on Friday November 1, 2013 at his residence. He was born on July 20, 1949 in Mt. Clemens to Filman and Leona DeRue. He married Penny Decker on December 31, 1988 in Tucson, AZ. He attended St. Clair High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Vietnam and received 4 Bronze Stars, including one for Valor. He was past president and member of the Vietnam Vets Motorcycle Club in Bloomington, IN. He retired as a machinist from Selective Engineering.
He is survived by his wife; Penny DeRue, sons; Rick and Jed, step-daughter; April, and 3 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers; John (Ginny), David (Karen), Jerry (Jodi), Don (Brenda), Jim (Dawn) DeRue, sisters; Ruthann Richie, Barb Daniel, Kathy (Keith) Liebetreu, Teri (Tim) Weber, Tina (Nick) Heydens, Sue (Jeff) Paul, many nieces and nephews, and his loving dog, Harley. He is preceded in death by his father; Filman, son; Jimmy, brother-in-laws; John and Chuck, nephews; Kurt and Scott.
Cremation has taken place with burial in Michigan at a later date. Arrangements by Cresthaven Funeral Home, Indiana.
