Theodore S. Holmes Fort Gratiot Theodore S. "Ted" Holmes, 84, of Fort Gratiot died Saturday, January 19, 2013 in his home unexpectedly. He was born March 16, 1928 in Port Huron son of the late John and Mary Holmes, Sr. Ted served as a U.S. Army Ranger during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Edward on-the-Lake Catholic Church and Charles Schoor VFW Post #796. He enjoyed golfing at Willow Ridge and was a member of several golf leagues. He is survived by his sister, Pauline H. Peacock of Port Huron; grandchildren, Markus, Chase, Whitney and Sydney Coleman and Owen and Avery Johnson; several nieces and nephews and cousin, Frances Grebenock of Port Huron. Ted was preceded in death by brothers, John Jr., Walter, Bernard, Andrew, Stanley and Joseph Holmes. Mass of Resurrection will be 10am Wednesday in St. Edward on-the-Lake Catholic Church. The Rev. Lee Acervo will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery with military honors under auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council. Visiting hours are 2-4 and 7-9pm Tuesday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and 9am Wednesday at the church. A rosary will be recited at 7pm Tuesday evening.
