O. Glee Chown Chesterfield O. Glee Chown, age 100, formerly of Lapeer, died Monday, March 3, 2014. Glee was born March 10, 1913 in Lum to David and Bertha (DeGroat) Millikin. She graduated in 1931 from Lapeer High School and married Gerald Chown in 1932, at a friend's home in Lum. Mr. and Mrs. Chown owned and operated the Chown Photographic Studio in Lapeer for many years and the IGA grocery store in Imlay City for many years. Subsequently, she started working at the Cooperative Extension Service, where she was a secretary for over 23 years. Glee was a devoted member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapeer for over 50 years. Glee and Jerry enjoyed traveling and spent many winters in Florida. Mrs. Chown is survived by her daughter: Carol (Robert) Hollway of Algonac; granddaughters: Kay Lynn (Noel) Regula of Holland and Lana (Shaun) Denman of Davisburg; 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Glee was preceded in death by her husband: Gerald Chown; parents: David and Bertha Millikin; grandson: Kim Robert Hollway; siblings: Clara Gustin, Grace Rutherford, Douglas Millikin and 3 infants siblings. Visitation for Mrs. Chown will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2014 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer. Glee's funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1310 N. Main St., Lapeer. Pastor Grant Lobb will officiate the funeral service, with burial to follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Lapeer. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church or The Village of East Harbor, 33875 Kiely Dr., Chesterfield, MI 48047.
