Jack S. White, 92, of St. Clair, died Monday, February 24, 2014.
He was born January 14, 1922 in Middleport, Ohio to the late Allen and Marguerite White. He married Dorothy Stewart on December 22, 1945 in Middleport, Ohio. She died June 20, 2009.
Jack served his country with the United States Army during World War II in Italy. He graduated from Ohio State University in 1949 and received his Master's Degree in 1959 from OSU. From 1949 to 1959 he also taught high school at Washington Court House, Ohio. From 1959 to 1967 he was a guidance counselor at Norwalk High School in Ohio and from 1967 to 1983 he was a counselor at Avondale High School in Auburn Hills, Michigan before retiring to Higgins Lake. He enjoyed woodworking, cross country skiing and running. An avid reader and sports fan, he remained a life-long "Buckeye".
He is survived by three daughters, Janelle (Anthony) Cavis of St. Clair, Joellen (Jay) Rosoff of Orange, California and Jenalyn (Paul) Riley of Murietta, California; seven grandchildren, Jared (Sarah), Andrew (Emilee) and Laura Cavis, Shannon (Eric), Aaron (Breanna) and Rachel Rosoff and Jack Riley; four great grandchildren; and one sister, Virginia Stemple of Washington Court House, Ohio.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014 in First United Methodist Church, St. Clair. The Reverend Dr. Margie Crawford will officiate.
Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, St. Clair. Military Honors will be conducted under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans.
Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.
