Frank A. "Pete" Martin

Marysville

Frank A. "Pete" Martin, 86, of Marysville, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2014.

He was born on November 18, 1927 to the late Archie and Helen Martin.

Frank married Mary Naffziger on July 15, 1950.

Frank graduated from Alma High School in 1946 and was inducted into the Alma Athletic High School Hall of Fame in 2008. During his military service in the United States Air Force he received the World War II Victory Medal and was recognized as an outstanding athlete in Japan in 1948. Frank graduated from Alma College in 1953 where he was a two sport athlete in football and track. For the next 30 years he taught at Marysville High School where he was honored as teacher of the year in 1976 by the MEA. He was a local football referee for 55 years, Frank was a longtime secretary of the Eastern Michigan Officials Association. Leisure activities included traveling to all 50 of the United States, fishing and family gatherings.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Kay (Steve) Silk, Nancy (Jerry) Pacholke, Thomas (Audrey) Martin and Jeri (Kevin) Bellhorn; grandchildren: Brian, Chas (Regina), Walter, Mary, Alison and Zachary; great-grandchildren: Brendon, Colton and Kaylee. He is also survived by his brother, Harold "Dub" Martin and in-laws, Leona Martin, Darwin and Betty Naffziger and Donna Naffziger.

Frank was preceded in death by his brothers, Clarence and Edward Martin; sister, Irene Hatinger and in-laws, Earl Hatinger, Louise Martin, Phyllis Martin, Jack and Betty Naffziger and Dale Naffziger.

Private Memorial Services will be held for immediate family. Arrangements by Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave. at 17th Street, Port Huron.
