Dorothy M. DeWitt, 85, of California, formerly of Port Huron, died Friday, May 30, 2014 in Chatsworth, California.
She was born May 14, 1929 in Brooklyn, New York, to the late George and Helen Miller.
Dorothy worked for the St. Clair County District Court for 27 years until her retirement. She was a member of the Blue Water Hiking Club and Blue Water Art Club. She enjoyed painting, doing pastel portraits, teaching batik and viewing artwork. She also loved the outdoors, especially walking along the river.
She is survived by her daughter, Teri (David) Carnesciali; three sons, John and Mark (Caroline) DeWitt and Jim (YaLing) Dewitt; seven grandchildren, Marie and Danny Carnesciali, Derek and Kierstin DeWitt, Athena Henson, and Teddy and Chelsea DeWitt; and one great grandson, Sage Henson. Dorothy is preceded in death by her sister, Helen Luicci.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 1, 2014 in Smith Family Funeral Home-North, 1525 Hancock Street, Port Huron with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m.
Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery Columbarium.
