Richard H. (Dick) Worden Fort Gratiot Beloved husband of Sandra (Davis) Worden for 50 years (married in Port Huron, June 62'). Loving father of Mark (Julie) Worden of Troy, MI and Scott Richard Worden, Fort Gratiot. Adoring grandfather of Noah and Sophia Worden. Dear brother-in-law to Richard (Shelly) Davis of Port Huron. Also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and a world of cherished friends. Richard passed away Saturday, June 9 2012 at the age of 71 following a courageous battle with cancer. Born to Donald and Eleanor Worden on December 27, 1940 in Croswell MI, graduated William Chrisman HS 1958 in Independence MO. He received his Bachelor's degree from Graceland College where he was a member of the Gimpers and also lettered in football, basketball, and baseball. He later achieved his MBA degree from Indiana University. Dick was a Principal/ Co-Owner of Worden Insurance Agency, LLC where he proudly built the family business with his son Scott into "An Accredited & Award Winning Independent Insurance Agency". Licensed Insurance Agent for 44 years in which he carried several designations: Licensed Insurance Counselor (LIC), Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Ruble Institute, served on several Advisory Councils and Boards. Teacher in the PHASD for over 30 years, Including Port Huron High School's Head Basketball Coach and Elementary Physical Education teacher to thousands of students. Dick played competitive softball in the fast pitch and slo-ball leagues and enjoyed golf as a longtime member of Port Huron Golf Club. His Christian Faith guided him throughout his life. His family has been blessed with his legacy of kindness and caring for his fellow man. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 in Smith Family Funeral Home-North, 1525 Hancock St. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in Colonial Woods Missionary Church preceded by one hour of visitation. Pastors Tom and Mark Seppo will officiate. Pallbearers will be Mark Worden, Scott Worden, Dick Ellis, Richard Davis, Hank Muir, David Clark, Paul Sheehy and David Teeple .
