Dr. Harold F. Willis St. Clair Dr. Harold Francis Willis, 91, of St. Clair, formerly of Port Huron, died peacefully at home Sunday, November 18, 2012 surrounded by his family. He was born October 4, 1921 in Port Huron to the late James and Amelia Willis. He married Helen Shirley on December 23, 1944 in Norfolk, Virginia. She died April 3, 2006. Dr. Willis graduated from Port Huron High School, Port Huron Junior College and the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. After receiving his dental degree, he served in the U. S. Navy as a dentist and was later recalled to duty as a dentist with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He built his dental office in Port Huron in 1947 and practiced there for over 40 years until his retirement in 1989. Dr. Willis was very active in Port Huron Minor Hockey. He was one of the founders of the Silver Stick Tournament, served as Tournament Director for several years and then became Commissioner of the International Silver Stick Association. He was a Past President of the Thumb District Dental Society, a member of the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, Port Huron Yacht Club, Charles Hammond American Legion Post #8 and the Elks Lodge. As an avid amateur photographer, Dr. Willis won several awards for his work. He was a member of the Shutterbugs Camera Club until his death. His hobbies included golfing, tennis and growing roses. At one time he had over 100 rose bushes many of which he captured in his photos. He is survived by two sons, James (Debby) Willis and Robert Willis; four grandchildren, BethAnne (Dan) Hahn, Amy (Greg) Salkind, Nathan (Jena) Willis and Brynne (Alex) Caleda; and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Bruce, and a daughter-in-law, Joan. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 2012 in the Marysville Funeral Home with visitation from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
