Thomas E. Hobbs Port Huron Thomas Edward Hobbs, 62, of Port Huron, died Sunday, January 6, 2013 in Port Huron Hospital. He was born October 21, 1950 in Port Huron. Tom worked for the Times Herald for over 35 years. He was a member and past Grand Master of the Odd Fellows and Rebekahs and Encampment #148 Lapeer. He enjoyed watching boats and socializing with people. He is survived by his mother, Ruth Hobbs of Fort Gratiot; three sisters, Lillian Farkas, Mary Ann Clark and Margaret Tolar; one brother, Charles McAvinew all from out of state; many nieces, nephews and cousins including a special caregiver, his cousin, JoAnna Sturdevant of Port Huron; special friends, Dan and Donna Brownigg of North Branch, Irvin and Betty Smith of Mason and Dwayne Pattison of Port Huron. He is preceded in death by his father, Charles F. McAvinew; and a sister, Ann Keyes. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 10, 2013 in Smith Family Funeral Home-South, 1230 7th Street, Port Huron with visiting from 2:00 - 7:00 p.m. Ed Beckstein past Grand Master of the Odd Fellows will officiate.
