David Fairfield Ostrom St. Clair David Fairfield Ostrom, 67 of St. Clair and formerly of Port Huron, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013 in River District Hospital, St. Clair, following a short illness. He was born to Vernon and Violet Ostrom on March 20, 1945 in Port Huron, attended the Port Huron schools, and was a member of the Port Huron High School Class of 1963. David first played football at Washington Jr. High School and then played for the Port Huron High School Big Reds. While growing up he was also a member of the Cub Scouts and then the Boy Scouts. He was employed for many years at the St. Clair County A.R.C. (now Community Enterprises of St. Clair County) He was an avid sports fan and followed the PHHS Big Reds faithfully. He enjoyed bowling on the ARC bowling team and often participated in Special Olympics. David was proud of the American Flag he received after it had been flown over the state capital building in 1979. He was a resident at the Impact Vine Street Group Home in St. Clair since September 28, 1982. David is survived by his sister, Sue Ann Ostrom of Kimball, MI and four cousins, Gary and Mary Moore of St. Michael, MN, Dan and Trina Jones of North Conway, NH, Jane and Larry Gold of Falls Church, VA and Dr. Philip and Joanne Fabel & Thomas and Jean Fabel, both of St. Paul, MN. His family also included his many friends at the Vine Street Group Home, especially his caregivers Terry MacMillan, Lynn St. Coeur, and Evelyn "Squig" Rapson. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2013 in Smith Family Funeral Home-North, 1525 Hancock St., Port Huron. The funeral service will be in the funeral home on Saturday at 12:00 noon preceded by one hour of visitation. Pastor Max Amstutz will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.
