Charles H. "Chuck" Michel, C.L.U. Marco Island, FL and Baldwin MI Charles H. "Chuck" Michel, C.L.U., 90, of Marco Island, FL and Baldwin MI, passed away on February 14, 2013. Born in Chicago, son of Gladys Michel and John Michel Jr., and raised in East Moline, Il. A Purple Heart recipient, he served in the U.S. Army 12th Armored Tank Division during WWII. Following a 34 year career in financial planning in Canton, OH, he moved to Algonac in 1988 and to Baldwin MI and Marco Island FL in 2008. A Paul Harris Fellow, Chuck was past president of the Algonac Rotary Club, served for 17 years on the Clay Township Planning Commission and ZBA, was past commander of USCG Auxiliary 20-01, and a proud member of the VFW. Chuck served on the Macomb/St. Clair County Workforce Development Board from 1996-2008, as chairman in 2002-3. He leaves behind his beloved family: wife Pamela Michel; children: Kristine Kirchhoff (Hans), Kathy Haupt (James), Deborah Thompson (Gary); niece Jill Michel; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; great and great-great nieces and nephews; cousins; and many friends. Besides his parents, Chuck was predeceased by his brother John Darth Michel, and son William Charles Michel. A private family service will be held later this year.
