Robert R. "Bob" Lester

Robert R. "Bob" Lester, age 72, lifetime resident of Marine City, died October 3, 2013. Bob was born February 15, 1941 in Marine City to the late Stanley and Jennette Lester. He graduated from Marine City High School in 1959. Bob served with the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1961. He served active duty aboard the Newport News. On May 26, 1961 Bob married Jacquelyn Smith in Marine City.

He and his wife owned and operated Lester's Handy Spot Party Store in Marine City for 16 years. He also worked for Chris Craft, Pontiac Motors, Detroit Edison and Mallards Landing.

He was a member of United Methodist Church, Marine City, Side Ship Launch Society, Collingwood, Canada and Lake Huron Lore at the Port Huron Museum. Bob also built the Pilot House exhibit at the museum. Bob and Jackie founded the Erie Square Square Dance Club in Port Huron. He enjoyed collecting many different things and had a passion for woodworking.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jackie Lester, children; Milton James Lester, Robert R. II (Carolyn) Lester and Jennifer Frances (Joe) Langdorf, grandchildren; Jessica Marie (Adam) Noble, Milton James "Jay" Lester II, Bryan Lee Lester and Amelia Frances Langdorf, great grandchildren; Aislynne Marie Noble and A.J. Noble, brothers; James (Charlene) Lester and Milton (Judy) Lester, Aunt Gertrude Aspenlieter,many nieces, nephews and cousins and two companions Gucci and Orlando.

Bob was always ready to help his family any way he could.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, October 5th at 1:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Visiting hours are Friday, October 4th from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
