MEBANE - Mr. Joel Lynn "Rip" Holt, 56, of 611 West McKinley St., died Sept. 25, 2013, at the White Oak Manor.
He was the son of Ms. Parthenia Holt and Mr. George Lynch, both deceased.
Survivors include a son, Joshua Parrish; brothers, Marvin Holt, Anthony Fuller and Eric Walker; sisters, Karen Johnson, Andrea Hodges and McKeba Slade of Roxboro; aunts, Brenda Holt, who was his caregiver as well and Margie Holt Alston; uncles, Gerald Holt and Thomas O. Vinson.
The funeral will be Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Johnson Chapel AME Church. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service and other times they will meet at the home of Mrs. Margie Alston of 2355 Melfield Drive. Public viewing will be held on Saturday at the funeral home from 1-9 p.m.
Burial will be in Mebane Community Cemetery.
Mr. Holt was a member of Johnson Chapel AME Church and was an Army veteran. He was employed by Safeway Sprinklers.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents who reared him, Mr. Daniel Holt and Mrs. Mary Holt both deceased.
