BURLINGTON - Mr. John Howard Richmond, 71, of Burlington, passed away at 11:08 PM, Friday, October 11, 2013, at the Hospice Home.
A native of Durham County, he was the husband of Patricia Brown Richmond and son of the late Howard Eugene Richmond and Irene Craig Richmond. John received his BS in Business Administration from UNC-Chapel Hill and later received his MBA from UNC-G. He retired after 42 years as Director of Human Resources with Lorillard Tobacco Company. John was a member of Low's Lutheran Church where he served as Chairman of the Church Council, Treasurer, and taught Sunday School for 30 years.
Surviving, other than his wife of the home, are a daughter, Tami Brown and husband Chris of Mebane; a son, John Richmond and wife Angie of Mebane; five grandchildren, Trey Richmond, Cameron Richmond, Catherine Richmond, Alex Brown and Abby Brown; and a brother, Dr. Eugene Richmond and wife Paulette of Greenville, NC.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, October 14, at Low's Lutheran Church with The Rev. Samuel Shores officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Rich & Thompson Funeral & Cremation Service in Burlington from 6-8 PM, Sunday evening and other times at the residence.
Memorials may be made to Low's Lutheran Church, 2136 NC Hwy 61, Liberty, NC 27298, or to Hospice & Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.

To Pat,Tami,and family,
To say the very least, I was very shocked to hear of John's passing. I will miss him coming into our dental practice picking on me. He was a gentlemans' gentleman. He will be missed by all of us here at the practice. May God's grace and peace be all of you at this time.

This man was SO nice. Always fair with me at Lorillard. Open door policy...& he meant it. He would always speak when he saw you. Really nice person.
